Skilled Foreman – Landscaping

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Foreman to lead site teams and uphold the quality standards our reputation is built on.

You will required to take day-to-day responsibility for the running of landscaping sites, managing labour, subcontractors, plant, and materials, while personally delivering and overseeing high-quality paving and joinery works to specification, programme, and budget.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management

Plan, sequence, and supervise daily site operations across one or more projects

Manage and motivate landscape operatives, labourers, and subcontractors; allocate tasks and monitor productivity

Mentor and train junior staff and apprentices on site

Liaise with the Director/Contracts Manager on programme, resourcing, and any site issues

Materials Management

Order and schedule deliveries of materials in line with the works programme

Manage on-site stock control, storage, and security of materials and plant

Minimise waste and ensure efficient, cost-effective use of materials

Hard Landscaping & Paving

Set out and construct paving to a high standard, including block paving, natural stone, porcelain, concrete, and resin-bound surfaces

Accurately set falls, levels, and tolerances in line with drawings and specifications

Construct associated hard landscaping features: retaining walls, steps, kerbs, edging, and drainage details

Joinery & Timber Structures

Construct bespoke timber structures to a high standard of finish, including decking, pergolas, fencing, gates, screens, and raised beds

Work accurately to drawings and specifications using correct UK timber conventions and fixings

Quality, Health & Safety

Ensure all works comply with drawings, specifications, and BALI quality standards

Identify and rectify snagging issues before handover

Enforce site safety procedures, deliver toolbox talks, and ensure RAMS and PPE compliance are followed at all times

Reporting

Monitor progress against the works programme and report any delays or issues promptly

Maintain accurate site records, including labour, materials used, and progress photos

Represent the company professionally when liaising with clients, designers, or site visitors

Required Experience

Proven experience as a foreman/working supervisor within landscaping or construction

Strong practical skills in paving and hard landscaping construction

Skilled in joinery/carpentry for garden and landscape structures

Experience managing labour,subcontractors, and materials on site

Full UK driving licence

CSCS card

Desirable

SSSTS or SMSTS certification

Trailer licence (B+E)

NPORS/CPCS plant tickets (e.g. excavator, dumper)

First Aid at Work certificate

Experience working within a BALI-accredited contractor

Familiarity with reading landscape construction drawings and specifications

Experience with installation of swimming pools
